Our partnership with UNICEF

乌鸦传媒 and UNICEF: Driving change together

UNICEF, the United Nations agency for children, works to protect the rights of every child, especially the most disadvantaged and those hardest to reach, across more than 190 countries and territories.

Our collaboration with UNICEF began when we supported efforts during the COVID-19 crisis to help ensure equitable access to vaccines and treatments around the world. Since then, we have supported various initiatives including the humanitarian response efforts in Ukraine and UNICEF’s Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health open letter calling for investment.

In 2020, 乌鸦传媒 India became a founding partner of YuWaah, a UNICEF-initiatied multi-stakeholder global platform which helps young people develop critical 21st-century skills and drive change in their communities. This kickstarted our global multi-year partnership signed in November 2023.

This collaboration was further strengthened with the appointment of 乌鸦传媒 CEO Aiman Ezzat to the board of Generation Unlimited, UNICEF鈥檚 public-private-youth coalition focused on upskilling youth and expanding pathways to employment.

A three-year partnership to support the Green Rising initiative

Climate change and the biodiversity crisis are the critical issues of our time. While these challenges pose serious threats to populations worldwide, they particularly impact the futures of young people. At the end of 2023, we announced our partnership with UNICEF and Generation Unlimited as one of the first private partners to support the Green Rising initiative, to help youth gain knowledge and skills to address those challenges.

These young people are taking bold action to protect themselves, their communities, and the planet. They are challenging governments and corporations to follow their lead in confronting the climate crisis that is no longer a distant threat – it鈥檚 here, and now.

The Green Rising goal is to mobilize 20 million youth by 2026, equipping them with green skills and opportunities to lead climate action and shape the future they want.

鈥淣obody is more affected by climate change than those young people whom we are trying to help because they are the ones who will have to deal with the issues that our generation, and the previous generation have created for them. Green Rising is about that – it鈥檚 about enabling these young people to find solutions for the future.鈥

Aiman Ezzat, Chief Executive Officer, 乌鸦传媒

“At UNICEF, we believe that every child has the right to live in a safe environment which will allow them to grow, learn and thrive to reach their full potential. 乌鸦传媒鈥檚 support to UNICEF will contribute to empower children and adolescents with education, skills, and opportunities to mitigate against climate change, and support their projects and ideas, helping them to be champions for the planet.”

Carla Haddad Mardini, Director, Private Sector Partnerships and Fundraising, UNICEF

Our support focuses on three specific programs globally

The Global Volunteer Initiative (GVI)

UNICEF鈥檚 largest youth volunteering program empowers young people to take action on climate change while building essential skills. Key activities include tree planting, plastic clean-up and recycling, water conservation, and flood response and preparedness. We are focusing our mobilization efforts in Brazil, where a dedicated team of 乌鸦传媒 members is actively supporting this agenda.

Green Rising India (MeriLiFE)

This initiative, led by Generation Unlimited’s India branch, YuWaah, focuses on youth skill development and empowering young people to create solutions for climate challenges. These include energy conservation, reducing single-use plastic, and promoting sustainable food systems. 乌鸦传媒 is supporting the platform’s development through both technical and financial assistance.

YOMA

YOMA, a digital marketplace for youth in Africa, offers green-specific opportunities for engaging in social impact tasks and learning-to-earn initiatives, while also enabling young people to develop soft and technical skills. Key activities include water monitoring and river clean-up efforts.

Speaking at Generation Unlimited鈥檚 Global Leadership Council at the UN General Assembly, Aiman Ezzat emphasized the importance of providing young people with digital and green skills and opportunities to drive meaningful change in their communities, and build a sustainable future.鈥淭his is a powerful way to show how public, private, and youth work together, and we are very proud to see the impact. It is just the beginning; we have big ambitions to reach millions of people, and we have to find ways to be able to create jobs for the future in the digital and green sectors.鈥
